This is the ‘big-screen story’ of the legendary Celtic hero and Saint – Columba of Iona. Set at the end of 6th century tribal Britain, with wild, renegade warlords, dark spiritual forces and the last flickering flame of western Christendom about to be extinguished. It is a time of momentous change, a time of danger, a time overpowered by the giant figure of Columba – warrior, monk and kingmaker – who stands, like an ageing Colossus, at the very centre of his world.
